Hi! I'm Revestin
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with an Honours Degree in Psychology from MacEwan University and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta.
I completed my practicum at Clinical Services at the University of Alberta and there I worked with clients presenting with issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem resulting from different types of trauma, discrimination, abuse, invalidation, isolation, chronic pain, burnout, and infertility.
As a Filipina woman, I have both lived and academic research experience on the negative physical and psychological effects of racial discrimination. Discrimination can take many forms and it can impact our lives in many ways, so it can be difficult and confusing to speak about our experiences of discrimination. Therefore I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who are experiencing discrimination due to their identity.
I use evidence-based approaches with my clients and I work from an eclectic approach drawing mainly from Compassion-Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies. I also use a multicultural and intersectional feminist framework, understanding that systemic oppression and discrimination, due to characteristics such as race, culture, gender, disability, and sexual orientation, all play a role in quality of life and well-being.
I want to provide a safe space for you to tell your story and together we can work towards healing. I believe that everyone is born with the desire for self-fulfillment and how that is defined, depends on your values and goals. Together we can identify what that means to you and help you work towards self-fulfillment.

A little bit about me:

I was born and raised in Canada but my family is from the Philippines (Ilocos Norte if you’re interested in which part of the Philippines).
I am a huge bubble tea and ice cream fan. YEG is awesome because we have so many options for both!!
Lastly, I’m usually down to try something at least once. Sometimes it turns out awesome/fun (e.g., the aftershock rollercoaster at Silverwood) and sometimes, not so much (e.g., dill pickle and peanut butter ice cream… #iykyk)
